Man Missing After Boat Capsizes On Missouri River
Four men launched a 14 foot boat with a 6 horsepower motor from Town shore near the S C bridge before dawn. Parker 27 Earl L Parker of 2302 Fifth Ave Navy veteran and Union Pacific employee remains missing after the craft capsized while three companions Russell Shipler 21 John Carman 26 and Robert Tansberry 27 were rescued. The boat drifted downstream and Parker clung to the overturned craft as authorities recovered the others. The three were brought to the police station after rescue by Frank Schultz using a boat that was pressed into service when the fire department rescue boat failed to start.

77 More Liquor Permits To Iowa Taverns
Des Moines reports that 21 more federal retail liquor licenses have been issued to tavern operators in several counties. SIOUX CITY Mrs Leona Dahms 32 died of third degree burns and four others were hospitalized after a Friday fire swept a two story house. Owner Stanley Katsis 50 suffered severe burns and cuts on both arms and hands. Also hospitalized were Mrs Katsis 41 her son Tom 13 and Mrs Ted Spurgetis 32 Rock Island sister of Mrs Katsis. They all suffered cuts and burns.
