Car Wreck Hits City Sewer Turbine Machine
Tom Rocha a 28 year old tavern operator of 1403 Sixth Ave appeared in Municipal Court to answer two raffe charges after a city sewer cleaning turbine machine was struck on Eighth St near Fourteenth Ave. Rocha pleaded guilty to leaving the scene and to damaging city property. He was fined $25 and costs on each charge with one day suspended on each. If damages are not paid within 42 days he faces 42 days in jail. The machine was left at the site for workmen and damaged beyond repair. a license plate from Rocha’s car and the car itself were later found. The incident left sewer crews unable to operate and out of service until a replacement is secured.
