Nezperce to Close Schools Over Infantile Paralysis Risk
Following the death of Russell Flora eight year old son of Rev and Mrs F A Flora of Nezperce the city council and school board ordered ten days of school closure and suspended all public meetings due to suspected infantile paralysis cases. The Idaho Department of Public Welfare issued warnings urging caution and outlining care, transmission factors, and preventive measures including bed rest fluids cleanliness and Mayo Clinic Rosenow serum for diagnosed cases in Boise.

Honor Bush Citizen Party for Joseph Abbl at Abbl Home
Sunday evening a social gathering at the country home of Mr and Mrs Louis Abbl honored Joseph Abbl of Buhl Idaho. Horses Taken to Kooskia for Wild West Stunts
Thirty head of wild horses owned by William Rooke Vance Rooke and George Brust were driven from Lewiston to Kooskia to be used in wild west stunts at the Kooskia fair this week. The animals had previously starred at the Lewiston Clarkston fair and will later go to Grangeville for Border Days.

Aged German Immigrant Dies at 70 in Local Home
Peter Haan aged 70 died at his daughter Mrs. Edgar Fry's home last Friday from heart disease after a period of illness. A native of Germany he moved to this area about six years ago and lived with Mrs. Fry. Remains were shipped to Moscow on Tuesday accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Fry and another daughter Miss Nette Haan. Prepared for shipment by A I Nau undertaker of Cottonwood. The Ladies Aid of the M E church to hold a cooked food sale.

Warehouses Overflowing in Cottonwood Grain Trade
Local warehouses and grain elevators in Cottonwood are overflowing as crops remain in the fields. Farmers Union and Vollmer Clearwater and Nezperce mills report full storage, with 1,000,000 bushels expected to move through Cottonwood. About 700,000 bushels are stored now, needing roughly 700 cars to ship, while much grain has yet to be moved.

Rev Fr Phillip Called From Nampa For Priest Illness
The Rev Fr Phillip returned Tuesday from Nampa Idaho where he was summoned by the illness of Rev Fr Michael Baumgartner of St Michael's Monastery. Baumgartner, raised to priesthood at St Mary Catholic Church Cottonwood on December 8 1920 by Rt Rev Bishop Daniel M Gorman, remains seriously ill though hopes for recovery persist.

Pioneer Ed Cawley Dies After 70 Years Of Travel
Ed R. Cawley a longtime rail era driver and Lewiston Grangeville veteran died at home from heart trouble on Sunday evening his body found by his wife at 7 30 after he went to the woodshed he had been employed at Grangeville by the railroad in recent years his burial was in Monclogue California and he was survived by his wife and Mrs Grant Benedict of Grangeville also noted was his era with Felix Warren Ezra Baird and Charles Leland in the golden days of the Lewiston Grangeville line and the ticket window routine each morning. First card party of the Knights of Columbus held in Grangeville with nine tables and prize winners listed for ladies and gentlemen.

Harvest Nears Finish As Camas Prairie Harvest Ends
Harvest is nearly complete on Camas Prairie with most machines in by week’s end after ideal weather sped threshing of a large five year high yield in bushels. Some grain remains in Westlake area and areas behind Reuterville to be threshed, weather permitting for another week. DELAY POWER HEARING. The Idaho public utilities commission in Boise suspended a rate schedule filing by Grangeville Electric Light and Power for 120 days pending hearing, which would raise lighting rates in several towns including Grangeville and Nezperce.

Charles Strickfaden of Ferdinand and his father J F Strickfaden of Campton California visited Cottonwood on business. J F plans to return home soon. Charles says he pulled in his threshing outfit after harvesting a bumper crop on his Ferdinand holdings. His entire crop was summer fallow and he plans future summer fallows.

Fire destroys grain in Greencock field loss
A fire last Friday burned a burning stubble field and destroyed a portable grainery containing 315 bushels of grain owned by B. A. Baer of Greencock. The grain was insured and a loss settlement has been made by the insurer, represented by Felix Martzen.
