Victory Is A Long War Still To Be Won

An editorial warns against public optimism that Germany could be defeated soon. It cites Taft estimates of 4 to 5 million U.S. troops and two to three years, with Allied judgment agreeing. Officials say 3 million already overseas or in training, plus 2.3 million more to be raised, and 2 million to be called by mid next year. The piece stresses that faith in quick victory could erode resolve and harm war efforts at home.
