Last Saturday September 22 Corydon welcomed the Corydon State Bank opening with music flowers souvenirs and punch. Officers directors and staff organized a full day event with visitors touring the bank including the vault while musicians Hurley Conrad Fern Hester Sarah Catherine Connor and Kean Kewin performed. Visitors registered in large numbers and the town benefited from the bustling occasion and additional calls to local businesses.

Sanford Martin died Monday at 11 15 am at his home southwest of Ramsey. He was seventy five. Survived by wife Elizabeth and six children: Robert of New Albany Noah of Monon Arville of Ramsey Mrs Carrington Davis Mrs Oliver Faten and Mrs Gus Gurtz, all Ramsey. Two brothers George and Richard in Chirk county. Funeral at Wood's Chapel church at 2 30 this afternoon with Rev Joseph Bunch of Paoli officiating. Burial in local cemetery.

DIES AT EVANSVILLE MRS OPIS ANNOUNCES DEATH
Mrs. Fred Opis of near Torstrens received a telegram announcing the death of a resident of Evansville Iowa. The remains were sent home and a funeral is planned at St George church Wednesday at two o clock. The deceased, aged thirty three, is survived by his wife and three children Jessie McKim Laporte City Iowa Theodore Gutnecht and George Omar Opal all residents of this county. He had been an inmate at Woodmere Asylum Evansville for about fifteen years.

Fred Johns of Taylor township was indicted by the Harrison Circuit Court grand jury for second degree murder in the August 21, 1928 killing of his hired hand Pat Thorp. Johns posted bond of 12,500 with bail secured by Herman Brown Cecil Cunningham and Mrs Harris Colvin. he returned home to await trial as attorneys Kirkham O Bannon Judge Ridley and Frank Self prepare the defense.

Mrs. Charles L. Stevens of Corydon area suffered severe burns to her right arm and face when a large kettle of hot water spilled while she was blanching corn. The incident occurred last Thursday, and she remains in great pain as healing will take time. Her glasses saved her eyes from injury.

Philip Lentz and companion Mr Findley of New Albany drove toward relatives for a day of hunting when Findley’s Chevrolet skidded over a bluff along the Blue River west of White Cloud. A wall of the Corydon Methodist church fell Saturday morning damaging the east end and part of the Sunday School floor. The Official Board met to decide whether to repair or rebuild and to hire an architect for plans for a new building or remodeling. The church, built in 1859 and once remodeled twenty five years ago, remains a commodious place of worship with recently cleaned memorial windows.
