John J. Dogherty Floyd county surveyor died suddenly at Blooming ton Indiana last Thursday at noon while employed by the Monon Railroad Company as a civil engineer on a roundhouse project. He was about 52, survived by a widow and three daughters. Funeral services were held at Holy Trinity Catholic church and interment followed in Holy Trinity cemetery on the Green Valley road.

Retired minister Rev John W Melton of Crandall died at his home on the 11th at age 74. A large Masonic burial followed at Bethlehem cemetery. He served in the United Brethren and Methodist churches, married Annie M Buzby, and left twelve children with ten living. He battled paralysis and Brights disease in recent years.
