William Mitchell with Corydon Water Works reports Indiana State Board of Health finds Little Indian Creek water pure for drinking. Reservoir filled from Blue Spring, urging careful use while mains may need flushing to remove mud and prevent creek-water mixing.
Harrison Post American Legion screens official World War moving pictures across the county. The program shows infantry charges artillery battles tanks airplanes and other war scenes with radiophone music. Shows are set at Manckport High School Laconia Presbyterian Hall Elizabeth Ladies Aid Hall Deans High School and Patuma Ey oof PP Hall with 10¢ children and 20¢ adults admission for veterans’ benefit.
Claude A Davis proprietor Hillside Poultry Farm won first and third premiums at the Indiana State Fair with two entries in the Single Comb White Leghorn Chickens Utility class. Davis four years in business, plans to mate a pedigreed Washington cock to his State Fair winner and expand with a ten thousand egg incubator next season.
William Craig aged 54 died Sunday afternoon at St. Edward's Hospital. The funeral will be at 3:30 PM at the family residence 710 West Spring Street with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Survived by mother Mrs. Carrie Craig and brother Edward N. Craig. Native of Corydon, longtime resident of the city. Louisville Times.
John McMonigle eighteen years old was accidentally killed while cutting timber on the Faro of Isaac Leffler in Pose Township Thursday morning after eight oclock. A log rolled and trapped him. coroner James To McAicim deemed the death accidental. The funeral was held at Union Chapel after services at McMonigle home. He left a mother who died in infancy and siblings including two sisters and a brother.
The Sixty Third Fair closed with large crowds though admissions fell short of last year. Exhibits showed notable gains in Jersey cattle hogs and poultry while judges from Indiana and local officials praised the fair atmosphere, displays, and marketable livestock. Local businesses and music stores sponsored showcases as Edward Collier lauded the event and its organizers.
Louise Horn of Corydon visited relatives in Laconia and Louisville with family members. Albert Brown and wife vacationed in Latham with relatives. M E Sunday School of Laconia to host an ice cream supper at EA Wall on September 16 for church benefits. American Legion of Coryden WH to show World War moving pictures at the BO UA on September 15.
Christine Murr was the Sunday guest of Elva Rothrock. Lou Murr visited her brother Alvin Carmen. Lillian Lincoln attended a Frenchtown bazar. Sunday guests at the Green and Crutcheon homes included many named families. Women socialized while children played games and men pitched horse shoes with Charles Baker and Mr. Green as champions.
Warren Dale infant son of Mr and Mrs David Shewmaker of Webster township died Sept 7 aged five hours. Funeral conducted by Rev W D Rosenbarger at Pleasant Ridge Church burial in church cemetery. The family has suffered four infant deaths and one child survives.
Mrs Mary Elizabeth Lottich wife of William Lottich died at home in Webster township near New Middletown after a six week paralysis illness. Funeral at St Peter Lutheran Church Franklin township conducted by Rev William J Burger. She leaves husband son Fred J Lottich daughter-in-law Marie Jane Lottich and step son Geo P Lottich plus four brothers.
St. Peter's Reformed Church at Flocktown near Crandall hosts its annual harvest home and mission feast on Sunday September 17. Harvest service at 10 AM and mission service at 2 PM with Rev. Laugpwein of Louisville preaching. A free dinner will be served near the church. Everyone is invited.
Local fair displays highlight Lockwood farms near Harrisburg and Dudley, Fogal, and Mauck livestock. Exhibits by Emmett Beaublossom, John W. Alstott & Son, Maurice Horn, Cy Mauck, and others drew crowds. A front grand-stand attraction featured Jol Hinkle and Jean Himes of Indiana with Mrs Hinkle formerly Miss Cline.
Mrs. Katie Schneider 57 wife of Henry Schneider died suddenly at home early Sunday morning in Webster Township. Heart trouble is suspected. Funeral at Lincoln Township Tuesday conducted by Rev. Wm. I. Burger. Maiden name Richert. Survived by husband two children Oscar Schneider and Mrs. William Blank and three grandchildren, plus three brothers and one sister. She was a St. Peter Lutheran Church member.
A memorial service for the late Mrs Sallie K Jones will be held in the Corydon Christian church auditorium on Wednesday evening September 13. An all day county meeting will be held with representation from all county churches. A noon dinner is provided by the Corydon ladies and supper is for visitors only. Mrs Jones was born and lived in Corydon with many friends across the county and state.

Marsh Pate of Scott township was seriously hurt Sunday afternoon when his horse startled at Joe Wiseman's car. The horse jumped a wire fence, throwing Pate. He suffered a deep head and facial cut, shoulder and ankle bruises, and was brought to Corydon where Dr. Daniel treated him. The horse previously did not fear autos. It kicked at the car and tore off a headlight.
Rev Eisman preached his last sermon at Heidelberg last Sunday evening ending his term this conference year. Lafe Davis is seriously ill. Jesse Hickman from Mt. Carmel Minnesota visits sister Lavina Matick and relatives. Ed Starrett and daughter Sylvia visit Breeden family near Leavenworth. C W Thomas and daughter Margaret visit Harve Cline family.
