Mrs Margaret Ellis known as Aunt Mattie died of bowels strangulation at her daughters home in Laconia on the 30th inst aged 67. She was sister to Capt F M Bartley John Bartley Sophia Jinkens Lizzie Melton Kuma Bartley and leaves a son and many relatives. Funeral from Union chapel on Friday conducted by Rev Tsaae Sands. She was ill about a week and the family thanks friends for their kindness.

Elmer Simcoke of Scott township and Miss Moulie Paylor were thrown from a buggy when their horse ran away near Elgard Haas’s residence. Simcoke suffered a broken right arm and jaw fracture with hip dislocation and tooth loss. Miss Paylor was only lightly hurt. Simcoke was taken home unconscious and remained so for hours, then began to improve.
