A horse pleads for kind treatment and humane care from its owner. It asks for food, water, shelter, proper harness fit, gentle handling, and protection from pain, disease, and cruel neglect, ending with a prayer to God and respect for the horse’s life.
The Rev Irl R Hicks Almanac for 1911, described as a guardian angel in a hundred thousand homes, is ready. The magazine Word and Works and the Almanac cost one dollar a year, with the Almanac priced at 35c prepaid, from Word and Works Publishing Company in St Louis.
Evans M. Showmaker of Rosewood Ind died in his sleep from heart failure during the night at age 99. He was born March 1 1811 and married Caroline Arnold November 16 1869, leaving eight children and five sisters. Funeral services were held at Rehoboth cemetery with Rev J T Reagan officiating.
Centralia Sentinel editorial explains a Post Office Department rule limiting credit to subscribers. Dailies must be paid within three months and weeklies within one year or risk removal and loss of second class postage. The Centralia paper pledges compliance and urges readers to settle accounts.
Louis S. Riely's Drug Store promotes Zemo as a safe external treatment for pimples blackheads eczema rashes and other skin or scalp eruptions. The ad guarantees money back if not satisfied and claims first use brings relief with continued use destroying germ life for a clean healthy skin. The piece ends with a light political joke about a Republican who laughed for twelve hours after election news.
A surprise dinner and pound party honored Miss Sally Christley for her sixty third birthday at her Corydon area home on Sunday November 18. About thirty five relatives and friends attended bringing baskets and sharing food. Attendees included Rev H S Nye and wife, Will Christley family, L C Keller family, Leander Bottles family, Jacob Stevens family and others. Guests wished Aunt Sally many more happy birthdays before departing late in the evening.

William Lewis, a Black man, was convicted of manslaughter in the Floyd Circuit Court for shooting Frank Day to death during a March incident. Day died after Lewis fired during a craps game near Corydon Creek. Prosecution by Clyde R. Lottick and Walter V. Bullett. defense by M. W. Fank. Costs of the trial to be paid by the county at New Albany.
Census figures show Harrison County declined to 20 232 inhabitants in 1910 from 21 702 in 1900, a loss of 1 470 since the last decade. The statewide total rose to 2 700 876, up 184 414 in ten years, while many counties gained.

Alfred Stonecipher and family moved to Porter county. Joe Dubois from LaPorte county visited his father Charles Dus bois in Beardstown on Sunday. Alfred Stonecipher also visited Beardstown Sunday. Thomas Jones and family and Andy Jones of DePauw visited relatives Monday afternoon.
