The issue from November 45, 1870 notes late week paper delays due to ink and illness. Editor ill. contributor Turter ster, Tart recovering. Tie bedridden ten days, no business. Authors Brew ster and PuRINGER excused from paper duties.
A Friday night quarrel at Mr. Hughes’s house, south west of Valley City, left Absalom Carter dead after being struck with a skillet and falling against a fence. The incident involved John Hughes Edward Hughes Stephen McAdames and Absalom Carter.
Sunday November month at 3 oclock at his residence 267 miles southwest of Corrdon. Jamus Hisey aged an years. A devoted Methodist Christian and active citizen. he leaves a wife and child and many relatives. The bereaved wife seeks sincere sympathy as she endures loss and hardship.
A lengthy telegraph of election results shows Democrats leading in most counties with majorities increasing across states. Congressional districts flip between Democrats and Republicans as Missouri and New Jersey shifts appear. In Cincinnati, two small boys in Leiningers restaurant cared for a crying infant left with them by a passing woman who promised payment. After the child grew distressed, a motherly stranger nursed it until quiet. The infant was taken to the Mayor's office for Orphan Asylum admission.
An inquest held November 3 1870 in Harrison County Indiana returned a verdict that David A Harbeson died from a gunshot wound inflicted by a double barreled shotgun in the lands of his brother Alonzo Harbeson. The coroner Jacob Zenol presided and jury members included Franklin township residents. Deceased described as about fifty three years old with brown hair, brown eyes, and a checkered beard.
By decree and execution, Charles P Pennington vs John F Eaton and Wm Eaton. On Saturday December 3 1870 at 10 am to 4 pm at the Corydon courthouse, Harrison County Indiana, the west half of the southeast quarter of section 32 town two south range three east is offered.
