Spencer Faenship Co op erative Fair Report 1878

The Spencer Township Co operative Society held its 2nd Annual Fair at the schoolhouse No 6 on Balrday November 1878. Opening remarks by Joho Burgess sparked music by the Exvelator Garnet Band. Exhibits were judged, premiums awarded, and a bountiful dinner followed. Speakers J S Burgess and D W Wolfe praised the event. Premiums listed include Red amber wheat, White amber wheat, and Clawson wheat with J S Burgess, D W Wolfe, and T J Alexander among judges.

Boy’s nickel venture ends in mystery at wood-yard

A North City wood-yard owner tries to teach a poor boy a lesson by giving him a nickel to buy and resell. The boy returns with a gallon jug bought for a nickel, then disappears after the owner discovers a hole in the jug and a terrier hidden inside.
