Ptarmigan From Nome Reach Seattle aboard Senator
The Pacific Coast Steamship Company liner Senator arrived from Nome with a flock of ptarmigan that sought refuge on Capt. John Scobey's cabin roof after being cast 50 miles off land by a gale. The birds were delivered to Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, while the ship weathered a 75 mile gale and loss of wireless on the voyage.

Veteran Louisville letter-carrier Die From Lungs Hemorrhage
Join L. Watson a long serving Louisville post office letter carrier died at his home 2305 West Madison Street from a hemorrhage of the lungs. He was fifty five, survived by widow and daughter Mrs Jennie Furry and brothers Ila L and Louis, plus sister Mrs Minnie Delin. Watson joined the force in 1887 and held active membership in several fraternal groups. Funeral arrangements not yet set. He had connections to the KXusler family of New Middletown and his first wife was Ella Hottle daughter of Hon Jonathan Hottle.
