Commemorative events mark the 100th anniversary of the first United Brethren Sunday School established in 1820. Memorial tablet unveiling and ceremonies at the grave of the noted religious leader highlighted the observance.
The Sunday Schools of United Brethren church marked the centennial of the first U B Sunday school founded at Pfrimmer’s Chapel in 1820. The four day gathering in Corydon and Pfrimmer’s Chapel featured Rev. Charles W. Brewbaker, Col. Robert Cowden, Gov. James P. Goodrich’s absence, Major Ied Jackson, and Bishop H. H. Fout. Memorial events included a dedicatory tablet for Dr. John George Pfrimmer and a grave ceremony with a floral wreath. The celebration highlighted the life of the early missionary and educator, recalling his role in establishing Sunday school work in Indiana and beyond.
