Villa raid near Columbus recalled by locals in Taylor township
Mrs. Edgar Greenough and her sixteen year old son Stanley Hess, of Taylor township, witnessed Villa and his band during the Columbus raid. They reported a strong wire fence on the border, says the Villistas cut the wire and entered, and Americans killed about 150 of the attackers before retreating. Hess saw the burned Mexican bodies, found a gun and a hair rope, and these items were to be exhibited at the Centennial.
