The remains of John C. Calhoun were exhumed on Saturday morning and replaced in the vault where they originally rested. The disinterment occurred near St. Philip’s Church in Charleston with the rector and vestrymen present, marking a solemn scene as Calhoun’s dust returns to a Carolina grave in the churchyard.
