The Indiana state board of finance authorized a four hundred thousand dollar temporary loan at two and a half percent to cover losses from the hoof and mouth disease, buy needed materials, and clear existing obligations. The loan will be repaid by June 30 after the June settlement, with no funds for general running expenses. The piece notes disease eradication efforts, federal aid, and political commentary on primaries and racing bills.
Poem laments the Constitution Elm in Corydon Indiana describing the historic town hills streams and the sentinel elm as a guardian of Hoosier history. It recalls Indiana’s early days at the site near the capitol with references to Redskins battles and lovers beneath the elm.

Washington reports that exports of foodstuffs and meat totaled 877.4 million dollars for seven months ending January, a rise of 188 million from the same period in 1914. Wheat, oats, corn and beef shipments rise while cotton exports fall sharply due to the war.

The Indianapolis News reporter questions Governor Ralston about his recent support for the Bell finance board bill and any ties to Thomas Taggart. Ralston denounces the editor as insulting and dishonest, and rejects submitting his conduct to newspaper censorship, alleging the News as a public menace.
The Indiana Daily Times urges the state to appropriate funds and negotiate with Harrison County to preserve the Old Capitol at Corydon. A legislative commission backs action, calling for clear plans and fair handling of funds to maintain the historic seat of Indiana’s early government.
