K G Burt advertises a private sale from June 15 to 23 featuring two car loads of Western horses. The lot includes one year old colts mares suckers dry mares and geldings after a 1800 mile rail journey. All unbroken though not very wild. Cash terms. Sale aims to avoid road driving risk to crops.

Palmyra drew about two thousand people last Saturday for the bank opening and a day of festivities. Free lemonade and ice cream fundraisers supported church and Knights of Pythias activities as Judge Geo W Denbo spoke and J W Dunbar led a deduatory ceremony with K of P involvement. The Fredericksburg cornet band played while two drum corps provided music, and residents enjoyed meals from beef barbecues and plentiful offerings.
The county Grangers plan their second annual picnic at the Fair Ground on August 1 with Hon. Aaron Jones and Hon. George F Gaunt among speakers. The event promises a strong program, rest from the busy season, and a chance to hear nationally known Grange figures. Attendees from last year recall a fine program and ample rewards for farmers who join.

Miss Lani Mauck of Hiddletown visits relatives nearby. Young folks attended Children’s Night at Hill Grove. Miss Atthie Mathes, staying with her sister in New Middletown, visited home folks. Misses Cleva Opp and Rose Try visited William Cunningham and family of Walnut Valley and attended the commenventent at St Solomon.
John Seipel of Dogwood has a certificate of Assay from Howard E Burton Leadville Colorado showing ore sent for analysis contains 32.35 oz silver per ton. The ore was found while digging a well at 90 feet. Walter Safter, neighbor, struck gas at 55 feet which lights to 8 feet and provides good illumination.
James Albert Sturgis stole a horse and buggy at Penn Indiana and later surrendered to Sheriff York. He is in the Indiana Reformatory, Jeffersonville, serving an indeterminate sentence of one to fourteen years on grand larceny conviction.

Ninety years after a state constitution was drafted in Corydon, delegates gathered under the Constitution Elm to sign the 1816 document. The nearby first Corydon house, the limestone state capitol and the Governor’s Mansion, show Corydon’s early governance and the move to Indianapolis in 1825.
William Henry Harrison owned the land where Indiana’s first capital grew. General Harrison entered the tract in 1801, and Corydon was laid out seven years later.
The Odd Fellows and Ben Hur lodges in New Amsterdam held Sunday decoration services attracting about a thousand people. Excursions by boat from Leavenworth Mauckport and Brandenburg arrived while the Corydon band provided music. Speakers included R S Kirkham for the Ben Hur lodge and Rev M F Apple for the Odd Fellows. Rituals completed, members decorated graves, signaling flourishing lodge activity.
Boone township will hold its annual commencement at the Presbyterian church in Laconia Thursday evening. Rev Evans will give the invocation. L Grace Carroll gives the opening address on The Attractions of Farming by Edward O Steele follows with musical selections and songs. Daisy Zimmerman speaks on The Revolution of a Century, James H Holiday on The Power of Speech, Jenkins Co Supt conducts, then benediction by Rev Evana.
Edward Lingenfelter of Washington township died Saturday evening the 9th of this month after a lingering illness from consumption. The funeral was Sunday afternoon at the Presbyterian church in Valley City conducted by John H. Heth. Interment followed in the Riprapdan graveyard. He was about 40 years old and survived by a wife and children. He was a brother of Lafayette Lingenfelter of this place and Alvin Lingenfelter of New Amsterdam.
Several hundred people witnessed the Grange decoration services at Zoar on Sunday with songs by Grange members and addresses by Major J S Pfrimmer John Lyskowski and C W Thomas. The exercises were in the church followed by a procession to the cemetery to place flowers on the graves of departed brethren.
The second annual Harrison County Holiness Association camp meeting will be at Ramsey campground from July 21 to 31. Rev. Dr. D. F. Stooks of Upland Indiana and Rev. D. A. Hill of Columbus Indiana lead the meetings with Rev. C. F. Weigle of Newport Kentucky directing the song service.
Corydon Lodge No 79 will stage decoration services next Sunday June 17. All brothers are asked to meet at the lodge room at 4 oclock pm with flowers. Hon James W Dunbar of New Albany will deliver the address.

The grocery owned by Patrick Thornberry on Brooklyn's main street was wrecked by dynamite between 2 and 3 am. Eleven sticks of explosive were found in the debris. Authorities linked Thornberry to running a blind tiger, with a government license found among the ruins. The blast scattered goods across the town, with no arrests reported.
Harvest time is under way with most wheat expected to be gathered this week in the area. Several locals attended Decoration services at New Amsterdam last Sunday. Oats crop will be short due to an early drought. Harve Frakes will drive the peddling wagon for James Roby this summer, Ora Farish resigning. Rev. M E Apple of Paoli spoke at the Decoration in New Amsterdam.
Depauw report recalls A H Hunter and G W Churchill losing a horse last Friday to overheating. Albert Lagle and Miss Eva Carroll attended the Citizens Bank opening in Palmyra last Saturday. Ollie Summers and Miss Graceott of Milltown visited Miss Cora Briscoe. Samuel Groves of Chrisney and Mrs Etta Moser of this place wed at Mt Zion last Sunday evening. Rev L H Kendall of Fredericksburg officiated before a large congregation. The writer offers congratulations.
