Burial of World War Soldier Clarence Hientz in Morgan Township
The remains of Clarence Hientz were interred at the German M. E. church cemetery in Morgan township after a service led by Rev. Lentz and Rev. Bond. Harrison Post No. 123 attended, with color guards, pallbearers, and firing squad. Hientz, a private first class in the 820th Machine Guns Battalion of the 82nd Division, died October 23 1918 in France. his obituary notes farm work in Iowa, multiple camps, and a homecoming in Hoboken New Jersey on July 22 1921. He leaves a mother, two sisters, a brother, and other relatives.

Stray Dog Recovered by Floyd County Farmer
Clarence Nance, a Floyd county farmer living on the Corydon and New Albany pike, found his valued stray dog in Corydon after the animal wandered town on Sunday. Sheriff Orwick had spotted the dog earlier. Nance previously sold the dog for $50 and later traded a cow to regain him, praising the dog as a good hunter.

Death of a Good Woman in Heth Township
Margaret Funkhouser Winders widow of Jefferson H. Winders died at age ninety four at her home in Heth township on July 19 after a long illness. Funeral services were held at Concord church, conducted by Rev. J. H. Toombs, with burial in Beech Wood cemetery. She was born January 11, 1827 and married in June 1844, leaving nine children, fourteen grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday at the Christian church in Edwardsville for Bonnie Sloan the first Floyd county soldier to die in World War I.
