Oak Grove hosts a Thursday July 16 event with M. C. Singh of Cawnpore India speaking on Hindu doctrines and rights. Other speakers, along with cool water and refreshments, will draw attendees to hear a man described as an able speaker.
Claude Frederick scored the winning run in the last inning as Will Lofton’s club beat Milltown. Jimmie Lofton opened for Milltown. James allowed five hits in the eighth with a home run and a threebase hit. Will Lofton and Flock led Corydon’s battery. Irwin ruled a Milltown baserunner out for not touching second.
The Corydon train runs next Sunday July 12 to connect with the east bound Southern line for the Chautauqua Assembly at Oienwou. Return trains meet the Southern at Hardwisville and New Albany, arriving Corydon at 11:26 p m. Also notes a large farm for sale near town with good buildings and a never failing well. Mr and Mrs Fritz Nelson of Louisville visiting Mr and Mrs James Marshac Paul west of town.
John Bucker of Taylor township lost 218 shocks of wheat on his Posey township farm last week. Fire cause unknown. rumor said youths were seen near the field with matches or smoking. Loss described as heavy for Mr Buckel.
Exciting game at the Fair Grounds ends with Corydon winning as B H Jordan scores the winning run and Marcus Funk delivers the decisive hit. Frederick and Jordan form the Corydon battery while Murray and Minton handle Georgetown.

Democratic chairmen from Harrison Crawford and Perry met at English to canvass votes for Judge Ridley and Prosecuting Attorney Brown both winning second nominations. A joint canvassing board also declared Sam Benz as the Democratic nominee for Joint Representative. Benz hosted the visitors afterward.
The legislature amended the registration law to require one registration day twenty nine days before the election. A precinct petition of ten voters can extend registration by one or two days for three days total. A county petition of 300 voters may add a September registration day fifty nine days before the election. Every voter must register to be eligible to vote.
The child Joyce De Heaser daughter of Mr and Mrs De Heaser of Rumsey died Saturday July 9 after a illness of several days She was one year and nine months old The funeral was held Sunday at Wood's Chapel with services by Revs Mc Neely and Welker She is survived by her parents and one sister.
The Spencer Township Farmers Institute will meet in Moberly next Saturday night July 11. Mrs. C C Kiubbard will speak on canning and preserving. The usual program and a singing specialty are planned. A premium list for the annual December institute will be prepared. All invited. secretary J V G Loupon announces.

Fourth of July festivities drew large crowds at the Corydon Fair Grounds with Old Settlers and Corydon U B Sunday School hosting a program. Speakers included Hon. M. C. Thornton and Judge Joseph M. Huffaker. Bishop William M. Bell gave multiple addresses while Old Settlers elected new officers.
Walter Kelly, grocer at Vincennes and Spring streets, keeps a shepherd dog named John who is an expert baseball catcher and neighborhood highlight. The dog chases balls, catches them in his mouth, and also serves as a vigilant watchdog. Last winter he saved the Kelly home from a cellar fire by alerting the family, earning praise from the New Albany Ledger. The Kelleys formerly lived in Taylor township.
Mrs C J Rentz of Adel Georgia writes that after three years of female troubles she could barely breathe while lying down and was exhausted by every task. She took Cardus as directed and now can do all her work without suffering. Cardus is claimed to relieve backaches headaches nervousness and weakness and misery for many women.
Residents report severe drought in the county with crops suffering and rainfall badly needed. Early corn shows significant damage across the river in Kentucky and nearby areas, indicating a worse drought than locally.
Misses Esther and Ethel Zillmann of Colorado Springs visit their grandfather Squire John W. Blume in Lanesville. It is their first Indiana trip as they and Mr and Mrs Blume visited Scott township residents from Saturday to Tuesday and spent Tuesday with Mr and Mrs J A Hostetler.
