A January 17 dispatch asserts strong evidence that Bismarck is gravely ill and possibly fatally affected. It cites Odo Russell, the English envoy to Versailles, who stated last Saturday that Bismarck bears the mark of death on his countenance and expresses deep regrets over his condition.
Two women discuss sparrows and their role in controlling canker worms. One complains of noisy early chirping while the other disagrees. A gentleman asks Mr A which is worse, sparrows or worms, and he replies he does not know having never had sparrows.
The Ledger a new Democratic paper will soon be published in Louisville by a joint stock company including James A. Dawson State Author Thomas Petit Lucien G Matthews General Thos H Taylor H D Newcomb and other prominent men. The chief editor is not yet named. Number I will appear Feb 1.
