Albert and Dowling McGrain, young Harrison county farmers, attended the Farmers Short Course at Purdue University Lafayette last week carrying samples of Reid's Yellow Dent corn. They won first prize for best ear of corn in the district and state, amid smaller attendance due to severe weather. Speakers included G C Creelman and Prof Taft, with updates on seed corn and farm topics. Albert McGrain will provide a written account for next week's Democrat.

Walker died of pneumonia at his daughter Mrs A W Mauls home two miles northeast of Corydon last Friday January 19 at eleven A M He was 78 years and one day old The remains were taken to Pendleton Indiana his former home for burial accompanied by Mr and Mrs Maul and their son Carl The Walker and Maul families moved to this county about six years ago

Mrs Laura Jane Wolfe wife of Fred Wolfe died at home in Corydon Saturday night after a fourteen month illness of dropsy and heart trouble. Funeral at Corydon Christian church Monday at 2 PM with Rev M A Cossaboom and John H Heth. burial Cedar Hill Cemetery. She was 59 years, 5 months, 19 days. Survived by husband, four children Edward, Clarence Wolfe, Mrs James M Blake, Mrs Minnie Breeze, eight grandchildren, four step siblings. Born Best, joined Christian church at eighteen.

Two Boys Run Away Aiming for Illinois Corn Job

Dr Atwood Smith of this county returned from Pittsburg where he attended an International Bible Students Association convention. He led a three man committee including Rev E D Sexton and E W Brensen to present a resolution against going to war to President Wilson.
