Obituary for John W Bridgman Ends Long Life in 1916
John W Bridgman born November 14 1815 in Louisville Kentucky died February 1 1916 aged 70 years 2 months 13 days. He married Carry Thomas in 1867 and had five children two with Carry who preceded him in death. He again married Mary Byerly in 1897 and one daughter was born. Surviving are Thomas Bridgman Crandall Dr Harry Bridgman Columbia Iowa Miss Lillie Bridgman Newburn Iowa and Miss Nellie Bridgman Crandall. He served as 2nd Sergeant in the 144th Regiment of Indiana Infantry. He was a quiet neighbor a loving husband and father. A father dear from us is gone the voice we loved is stilled a place is vacant in our hearts which never can be filled.

Friday February 4 marked Indiana Day at Frye School No 12 Harrison township. In the forenoon the program continued until 11 30 when patrons arrived with baskets of food. A noon feast featured fifteen large cakes and numerous dishes. About seventy five attendees then heard a short program on Indiana history with recitations by teacher Roscoe Davis and students. The day closed with a singing of America.
