Heavy cassimere selection in dark brown checks and stripes informs a hat sale. Hats priced at 79c with regular prices of $1, $1.50, and $1.75. Local shop advertises a bargain on headwear in period pricing.
A public street brawl in Corydon last Wednesday pitted G. Self editor of the Republican against Chas. P. Wells organizer for the American Plowmen. The fight lasted one minute thirty seconds with several fouls. the referee declared a draw as Wells exited for repairs and Self sought shelter after a bleeding, bruised showing.
Judge Cook's decision last week upholds the Board of Commissioners in denying a liquor license at the February term. Citizens had remonstrated against the license through an agent.
Representative Lopp introduces legislation amending township reform law to have annual financial reports of trustees, previously approved by Advisory Boards, also approved by the Board of Commissioners. He cites past investigations showing discrepancies after advisory approvals and urges passage to prevent such issues.
Petey T. Bruch son of Mr and Mrs Serge Bruch and Miss Hattie Thomas daughter of ex trustee B F Thomas Franklin township were married yesterday afternoon at this place by Rev H S Stern. Trustee McCauley of Taylor township hired H A Miller to audit records of ex-trustee Frederick Johns. Miller's written report finds Johns is $290 short. Johns, a Republican reform trustee, has been urged to settle the shortage once verification is completed.
Elmer Holyoke, involved in an Elizabeth incident with Ben O Bannon four years ago, appeared in circuit court. A jury fined him 42 and costs for assault, and the court fined 10 and costs for carrying concealed weapons. He failed to post bond and remained in jail. Nine jurors favored penitentiary, though the outcome was a local fine.
The trustee of Morgan Township will be in his home office in Palmyra every Tuesday to transact township business. Notice dated 23-2m by Jong S. Martin, Trustee Morgan Tp.
The speaker accuses a few powerful corporations of controlling finance to boost their wealth. They claim these groups raise money costs, depress wages, ruin many honest business people, and push half a million workers into poverty. They allege targeted mortgage pressure on the poor and use mobs to force soup kitchens, blaming Democratic politics.
Edward Feller died of pneumonia at 30 after a fourteen day illness. He left parents Mr and Mrs Feller five brothers and four sisters. Funeral was at the family residence followed by a sermon by Rev H I Stern and a talk by John Heth. Interred at Cedar Hill.
In a Saturday circuit court session Judge Cook held the remonstrance form used by voters to be valid. The cases differ from a Supreme court ruling where filing was discretionary. Here voters authorized agents to file remonstrances in all cases and future questions include remonstrator count.
L C Adams of Low Dell Stock Farm Depauw Indiana announces a public auction on Friday March 15 selling his entire herd of Jersey cows all fresh or forward springers and high grade. Animals are gentle easy milkers yielding strong butter output with nine month credit on purchases with secured promissory notes.
The ad promises a one day cure for colds using Laxative Brome Quinine Tablets. It notes a refund offer if it fails and features E. W. Grove's signature on the reach box. Aug 25 year unknown.
The circuit court ruled the will insufficent as the devisee was not properly specified, denying transfer of a 134 acre farm valued around $3000 to the Harrison County Poor Asylum. The estate reverts to distant relatives with lawyers taking large fees, against the decedent's apparent wish.
G A Roberts of Lintner Indiana suffered four years with a wad in his stomach and inability to eat. He lost 65 pounds before two bottles of Dr Caldwell's Syrup Pepsin restored his appetite and cured his stomach trouble. He is now well and hearty and credits the syrup. Sold by all druggists.
