Griffin Delsarte Show Boosts W C T U Fund in 1911

A large Griffin audience filled the Delsarte entertainment hosted by Mrs. A. D. Reid for the W C T U fountain project. The event showcased a Grecian Drill by Griffin’s young women, a lively Guess What game, and the Dude Drill, with Roberta Daniel delivering a fine recitation. Gross receipts totaled 210 dollars, helping the charity near the hundred dollar mark.

Deputy Oil Inspectors Appointed in Congressional District

Dan Walsh Sr of New Albany and IX W Pickhardt of Huntingburg are named deputy oil inspectors by State Oil Inspector James Fry. Walsh runs a New Albany merchant business and Pickhardt edits a German newspaper in Huntingburg. The number of deputies rises from twenty nine to forty four, but pay remains fees only, so no extra cost. Barogoini National Bridge Discovery Report

The account recounts the 1908 1909 survey efforts to locate and document a great rainbow shaped natural bridge near Navajo Mountain Utah Arizona. It details reports to the General Land Office and the roles of John Wetherell Jim Mike's Boy Nasja Begay and Prof. Cummings in guiding the expedition which reached the bridge on August 14 1909 and credited Jim for first knowledge of the site. Death of Mrs Edith Kitterman in New Middletown

Mrs Edith Kitterman died at her home in New Middletown on Tuesday night January 24 1911 after a two year tuberculosis illness. She leaves two sons and siblings Miss Jessie Wallace Edward Wallace and a brother Thomas of the area. Funeral Thursday was led by Rev Young of the U B church and interment followed at the local cemetery. She was thirty four years old.

Hearing Date Set For Teachers' Qualification Bill

Indianapolis News reports Rep. Askren pushing to repeal the high school diploma requirement for teachers. A public hearing is planned at 2:00 pm next Thursday, or 7:30 pm if the House is in session. Rep. Cook's disability and retirement fund bill will share the agenda.
