George Martin died at his Palmyra home after a long illness. He was eighty five. Survived by wife Cora Worley daughter and Claud Martin son of Martinsburg. Funeral services were at the Church of Christ in Palmyra and burial followed in Martinsburg.
The Town Boards of Elizabeth and New Middletown grant the Railroaders Oil Company franchises to lay gas pipes in streets and supply gas to residents. Franchises previously granted by Harrison County Corydon and LaConia, with lines along highways. The notice urges community support as gas usage expands across the county.
Isaac Foster of Webster township brings a fine load of beech wood on subscription. Foster owns a large Webster farm and operates machinery on his property.

Vienry arso died suddenly of heart trouble at his Spencer township home last Friday morning after collapsing while feeding at the barn. He was 58, survived by his wife and one daughter Mrs Roscoe Murr. Funeral services were at Haas' Chapel conducted by Rev Thrace Sonner of Depauw with burial in the local cemetery.
Ruth Tiedges wed Oscar Rupp Sunday at noon at the home of Mr and Mrs William Tiedges near New Middletown. Rev W D Rosenbarger performed the ceremony in front of relatives and a few friends. Attendants were John Kledges of New Albany and Wiertha Wedges. A wedding dinner followed with a social time. The bride is a Harrison County teacher and the groom a respected young farmer.

Corydon High School teachers and Superintendent George Reuter visited Salem and Jefferson-Wike high schools last Thursday and Friday to compare curricula and gather ideas. They praised the visiting schools for their strong staff and effective work while noting Corydon’s program compares favorably. Teachers Alisses Blanche Ridley, Mary Melarland, Mollie Keller, Mr and Mrs Atwood Bliss, and G W Gerrichs accompanied the trip.
The next meeting of the short story class will be held Saturday December 24 at 9 AM in the Corydon High School building. Students may get their textbooks from George Reuter at Corydon. A bazaar and chicken dinner will be hosted by the Ladies of the M E church at Maneckport December 17. Donations for the bazaar are appreciated December 17-20.

An uncle in Panama sent Nellie Wright a letter about a gigantic whale in Colon harbor weighing 70 tons and 75 feet long, stuck in shallow water, needing a submarine chaser and crane, with oil and Jonah myths cited. Firestone tire prices advertised at year end, with local shop boasting new pricing.
A November twenty second crowd assembled at A N Hilderbrand’s Elizabeth area residence. Attendees included numerous Hilderbrand and Morgan family members along with friends, sharing music and songs for an evening of social revelry.
The Spencer Township Grange secretary will be in Moberly on Saturday morning December 17 1921 to collect quarterly dues and clear books for a report to the Worthy State Secretary January 24 1922. The evening session will install officers. John W. B. Kintner Master.

The Young Business Men’s Club of Corydon toured the nearby gas field at Laconia with Professor A. C. Malott and Ivan Rosenbarger. Malott praised the strong gas flow, noting a well on the Hurst tract active for 34 years and one well capable of fueling Corydon’s residences. He will report to State Geologist Logan for transmission to the YRBM within days. The paper’s editor urges rapid gas delivery to Corydon at 60 cents per 1800 cubic feet, contrasting Albany’s higher artificial gas price.

The Sunday School at Pennington Chapel five miles northwest of Corydon will hold a Christmas program with tree this Saturday night December 24. In Harrison Circuit Court, Olle Curts of Washington township married Amelia Carver of Crawford county by Squire W. H. Morris. Moments later Brettie Curts and Robert H. Mowrer, also from Washington township, obtained licenses and wed Morris, in a sequence not anticipated by either party. Deputy clerk Lemmon notes neither knew the other would apply that day.

Norman Krausgrill of Edwardsville sustained serious injuries Saturday at the Floyd County Edwardsville quarry. While riding a tramway car to the crusher the car left the track, overturned, and he was crushed beneath a load of stone. He is 40, living with his mother.
