The Miasonic and Modern Woodmen lodges in Crandall form The Crandall Company to erect a two story building. First floor will house a store room post office and a doctor's office while second floor provides lodge rooms. Officers elected August 71 include Millard J. Thomas president A J Dewitt vice president Homer F. Wright secretary treasurer and Frank Markwell Wt K Emily. Stock of 6060 is sought and foundation work has begun with a 90 day completion target. Child Bitten by Copperhead in Taylor Township
Six year old Helen McRae daughter of Mr and Mrs Edgar McRae Taylor township was bitten on a toe by a copperhead last Saturday afternoon. Medical aid was immediate and the limb was at one point in danger but she is now recovering. The family killed the snake.

The Pfrimmer's Chapel Missionary Society met at Mr. and Mrs. Orlin Faith's home near Nevin on August 9. Members and friends including Mrs. Ora Hauswald Nellie Sharp and daughters Georgia and Iuetta, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Ellis and son J. T, Mrs. Carrie Turley and son Howard, Mrs. Lillie Stark, Misses Lulu Mary Helen Edna Turley Georgia Edna Bruce Evelyn Hauswald Ed Faith Carl Hauswald and Robert Sharp gathered for a picnic lunch and a missionary program in the afternoon. Ice cream was served after the program. The society organized last October and has held engaging meetings despite a small membership.

Two Men Arrested for Liquor Law Violations
George Hickman and Roscoe Hisey were arrested on Monday on liquor law violations. Officers found whisky in both Hickman’s and Hisey’s cars and prosecutions were started before Justice M. C. Frank. County Sheriff Orwick reported the case. Hickman was taken in the afternoon and Hisey Monday night.

Birthday honors mark Mrs Hisey eighty eight years old
Mrs. Lucy I Hisey celebrated the 88th anniversary of her birth with family and friends at her Oak Street home last Saturday. Guests included Rev Joseph Isvruett and his mother Mrs Bartlett, Mr and Mrs J S Askins of McCreary Ky, and Mr and Mrs James D Kiger of Charlestown. Her daughter Mrs Askins and another daughter Mrs Albert Worm and her husband joined the gathering. Her son Mr Kiger is noted as Mrs Hisey’s son. The Hisey family long noted for longevity includes brothers Lorenzo Bettorff, 95, and Jackson Bettorff, 97, and sister Mrs Andrew Keller. She moved to town last spring after selling a farm west of Corydon.

About forty residents from Harrison and Floyd counties plus Bradford Palmyra and Greenville met at the Philip Reep cemetery near Bradford on August 17. The mixed group worked most of the day to clean the old cemetery with around a hundred graves believed. Mrs Cort Hottell led the organizing effort and was chosen to oversee next year’s cleanup.

Mad Dog Kills Pet. Brain Exam Sought for Hydrophobia
Abe Rothrock near White Cloud killed his dog last Thursday after it showed mad symptoms for two weeks. Dr. Earl Pace sent the head to the Indiana State Board of Health in Indianapolis for brain analysis for hydrophobia. A stray dog had bitten three cows on June 15 and was killed. the Rothrock dog may have been bitten earlier.
