William Barney Summers died at Beulah Wyoming on August 11 1911 after a yearlong illness from heart leakage He was 57 and buried near his long-time home He was born in Taylor township and moved to Wyoming with his family eighteen years ago Survived by widow four children three brothers and three sisters He was affectionately known as Barney by Jackson county friends and had many ties to Taylor Posey and Boone townships Local notices follow including illness travels and business ads unrelated to his death

Pilot Hottell Receives First Class License On Ohio River Route
John A. Hottell of New Amsterdam Indiana passed a top exam before the local Board of Steam Boat Inspectors and was issued a first class pilot license. The seven year towboat veteran earned a high grade and a license to operate on the Ohio and Mississippi between Cincinnati and New Orleans. He will work between Louisville and the Crescent City earning an annual pay of about three thousand dollars.
