Prof. King recalls a dangerous ascent from Plymouth into the Maine Canada wilderness. The balloon crossed cloud banks and a night sea as ballast and drifting caused by a counter current carried it toward shore. They landed ashore after a harrowing voyage with limited provisions and a drifting drag-rope.
