Vanderbilt plans to build Indiana line parallel to Lake Shore
The Indianapolis Journal cites strong authority that the Vanderbilts will parallel the Lake Shore and Michigan Southern across Indiana by reactivating the old Chicago and Canada Southern route from Fayette toward Chicago. The plan aims to create three tracks, with Fond for freight and Lake Shore mainline for passengers and lighter freight, starting in early spring. The route would run mainly one to two miles south of the Lake Shore, with much of the bed already graded.
