Rizzo Recall Hits Philadelphia Supreme Court Hearing
The Pennsylvania Supreme Court heard a special session on whether Mayor Frank Rizzo must face a recall election on November 2. A ruling is expected quickly as justices weigh if the ouster petition had valid signatures amid clashes between election commissioners and a lower court ruling. Rizzo, a Republican-leaning mayor, denounces the recall as a liberal bid to oust him after defeat in past campaigns.

Pound rallies as Healey seeks IMF aid in crisis
The British pound rose nearly three cents to 91.6675 after Chancellor Denis Healey proposed drawing 62.0 billion from the IMF amid a 4 percent drop to a record low. Analysts say drawing on standby credits may ease repayment uncertainties and support sterling. the Bank of England may be able to back the pound if needed as imports strain Britain during a deep recession with high inflation and unemployment. The report also notes a separate note on a birth in Corry Memorial Hospital.
