Turnpike bonds sold for western extension to Ohio line
The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission sold 77.5 million dollars of revenue bonds to fund the western extension from Davin to the Ohio line near Petersburg. The issue, dated 1949 and maturing 1988, was purchased by a banking syndicate led by Drexel Burnham and First Boston. Bonds carry equal lien with existing issues, are tax exempt, and priced at par. Ground breaking slated for October during Pennsylvania Week. The automotive note appears as a historic aside in the report.
