Harrisburg Sept 28 Governor James H Dut will formally launch construction of the eastern turnpike extension, a $7,000,000, 100 mile toll road. The first leg contract, awarded to Central Pennsylvania Quarry Stripping Co. of Hazleton, covers 34 miles in Fairview township York County for $1,179,779. The extension runs from Middlesex near Carlisle to King of Prussia near Philadelphia.

William A Geertson Dies in Corry Community
William A Geertson, a longtime Corry resident, died after a five year illness. Born July 29 1894 in Corry he worked at several local businesses and served as a World War I corporal in France. Survived by two sisters and a brother, his body lay at the Bliss home on Wright Street with services Thursday afternoon at 4. Burial sarà Pine Grove Cemetery.

Bodies recovered as search continues for Erie fishing trio
Coast Guardsmen found the body of Frank Kowalski 43 Erie seven miles from the harbor entrance. Louis Waller 92 and Clarence Mogel 32 both of Erie were found earlier. The 10 foot motorboat used by the men has not been found.
