Widow Ida May Phifer was away shopping. Neighbors and police responded, officers assisted by utility workers. Attorney FJ Lyons returned from Harrisburg where he presented a pardon petition for Patrick Ponsell who is serving a sentence at the western penitentiary for a local offense. A prior Ponsell application was denied months ago by the board. Several days remain before decisions. In Corry sealed bids are invited for a new police patrol automobile with a $100 bid bond, due October West 1928 at 8 PM. The city reserves the right to reject all bids. In Erie County the widow Anna Gillett petitions for a widow's exemption under the Fiduciaries Act seeking $3500 to be approved by the Orphans Court on October 22, 1928 at 11:00 AM unless extensions are filed.
