Centralization of 22 ell tax collections in the city treasurer office after January 1 spurs disputes among county city and school authorities. Miners Strike Hits Venango Area amid Nationwide Walkout
Franklin, Sept 27. Several small and mid sized mines in Venango and Mercer counties closed after a visit by ten strike supporters from the Grove City area. Three mines south of Clintonville shut Wednesday with pickets expected back today. The Lang Campbell and Cross mines closed, employing a few miners, as portents of continued disruption in the Pone Hill district where some mines run only two to four workers and others as many as 15 to 20.

Centerville School Tax Collector Held for Fraud Charge
Meadville Sept. 27 Willard Z Walker Centerville borough school tax collector faced Alder man Karl A Kielbaugh on fraudulent conversion of school funds. He was held for the November term with bail set at 2000 but unable to furnish it and committed to county jail. Evidence showed a short 1148 in 1933 1984 tax collections. a $800 check offered as partial payment was returned marked no funds.

Greenville veteran killed under train in Pa at crossing
Francis Reese a 26 year old former soldier was killed instantly when he attempted to hop a Bessemer freight train at the Main street crossing in Greenville Pennsylvania last night He will receive a military funeral tomorrow afternoon His mother and two sisters survive him.
