Meafield man sentenced for manslaughter in fistfight
Francis Lloyd Mason of Guys Mills, 27, received a four to 19 year sentence at Western Penitentiary after being convicted of voluntary manslaughter in the June 3 death of his stepfather James Willis during a fistfight. Judge Mook noted the difficulty of the ruling, granting mercy for the family while stressing lack of certainty over Mason’s intent.

Claude Smith a former Corry resident will be buried tomorrow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Born in Corry he lived there until 45 years ago when he moved to Jamestown to work for Arb Metal Company until retirement six years ago. He died at Forest Nursing Home in Jamestown and is survived by daughter Melissa A. Lawryrice. Funeral at Powers Funeral Home in Jamestown at 1 30 p m will precede interment here.
