A mysterious blackout shrouded Corry and much of the eastern United States after noon as dense smoke from Canadian forest fires curled over the Great Lakes. Authorities blamed a smoke pall traveling 6 000 to 17 090 feet, with one fatality in Tyrone from a traffic collision.

The eclipse begins when the moon enters the penumbra at 8:20 p m and progresses into the umbra around 9:31 p m with the total shadow ending at 11:40 p m. the moon reappears around 1:02 a m EST. This will be the last total lunar eclipse visible from the United States until January 29, 1953, with a partial eclipse anticipated February 10, 1963.

Army Paratroopers Join Push to Seize Seoul in Korea

The United States draws on the airborne reserve to mount a large scale assault toward Seoul. About 150 plane loads of troops reportedly arrive to join combat as paratroopers and infantry push through enemy-held airstrips and urban defense. Yugoslav Vice Premier Edvard Kardelj urged temporary reestablishment of the 38th parallel as Korea's demarcation line in a U N General Assembly policy speech. Erie Man Killed On Rt 6 Involving UC Driver

An Erie man Bennie Hampton Davidson was killed Saturday night in a Route 6 accident near Union City. Deputy Coroner L Musane and police say the UC driver’s role was cleared. Davidson died after a collision near Susnovih Center Street. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Five Man Board Enforces New Red Control Act

Plane crash kills three CAP officers near Esco

Three Civil Air Patrol officers die in a crash near Esco as a CAP plane burns in a rear yard. The dead are Col James F. Barnett 44 of Sioux Falls Lt Oliver A Singleton 24 formerly of Van Buren Ark now of Sioux Falls and Lt Duane M Reeves 28 of Sioux Falls. Skin Alexander, a Lexington golfer, is injured and hospitalized at Deaconess in Sioux Falls expected to recover.

File Charges In Area Wreck

Police at the community station arrested Edward Weaver in Union City on a charge of failing to have an operator license and reckless driving. Weaver, injured in a Saturday wreck, was hospitalized and had allegedly driven a Chevrolet without the owner's permission, causing a bike and vehicle to be demolished. Local authorities said the car was taken without authorization.
