A readerly snapshot recalls the September 4, 1950 Sunday blackout across Dbery and the northeastern United States. Local farmers in Crawford county weigh soil and crop plans as harvest continues and beans move to North Girard for freezing. Action Delayed On McCarthy Ouster Resolution
Washington Sept 24 Senate rules subcommittee again delayed action on a resolution to investigate grounds to oust Senator McCarthy of Wisconsin. Chairman Gillette said a fuller meeting would occur later, with no decisions reached in the morning session. McCarthy said administration forces lack the guts for a showdown on expulsion. The Benton sponsored measure would go to the Senate if approved, needing two thirds of those voting to oust.
