Corry Beavers beat Strong Vincent Colonels 40-19 at Sheen Field to grab a second straight win in the 1967 season. Highlights include Lou Hanna clearing the bench in the final quarter and a strong rushing game led by Stockton and Dubrosky with multiple touchdowns and a late Beavers drive sealing the victory.
The Little Beavers halted a Colonel rally as Bob Bra bender connected with John Sansone on a 17 yard touchdown to take the extra point after a goal line stand. Beavers’ line opened holes for the charging backfield while their defense repeatedly broke through the Colonel wall. The opening quarter remained scoreless as both teams felt each other out and Corbett’s kick return set up field position before mud slowed play and pinched the drive.
Wattsburg Bobcats upset Union City Bears 13 to 0 before about 1000 fans in Wattsburg. A fumble recovery by Larry Giewant for a five yard TD set the tone, with Tom Beebe adding a third quarter TD run. Homecoming queen Jean Anne Kostra crowned at halftime. senior court named Claudia Condron and Linda Southwick.
