Oil magnate claims persecution by government in jail
Harry F. Sinclair, jailed for contempt during the Keypot Dome trial, says he is persecuted and denied clemency by Hoover. Fellow inmate Henry Mason Day, also imprisoned for contempt after jury shadowing, insists he is innocent of the crime attributed to him while stating he was not punished for an actual offense. Day notes he is jailed for contempt, not a crime he committed. Sinclair argues the Attorney General Mitchell's clemency review replaces a jury verdict, insisting acquittal should stand.
