St Thomas Women Organization opened the season with a tureen dinner in the school auditorium chaired by Mrs William Brigham with cochairmen Mrs Ronald Drayer and Mrs Patrick Cooney. Seven members and guests enjoyed the meal. Mrs George Cate won the special award. Sister Dominica presented a school gift. Rev Cyril Cooper and Rev John Lucas spoke. New officers named for 1973 74 include Mrs James Maloney president and Mrs Larry Buell vice president. Dues of 2 dollars were announced. St Thomas School students will join the Key 73 parade tomorrow meeting at 2:00 p.m. at the school. second grade earned attendance mascot. Next meeting set for third Wednesday of October at 8 p.m.
Spartansburg postmistress Marie McDannell retired on September 1 after 30 years in the postal service. A Thursday retirement dinner at Corry Motor Inn honored her long service with family, friends, and local officials in attendance. Grandchildren of McDannell received gifts as attendees included the Skiff, Greer, Torrey, and Blakeslee families.
A testimonial dinner at the Ramada Inn near Erie honored Mrs Myrtle Sundberg of Lake City and Corry, president of the Women's Relief Corps Auxiliary to the Grand Army of the Republic. Approximately 70 guests, including veterans groups, relatives, and Sundberg’s family, attended and presented a purse and gifts.

Activities covered Meals on Wheels support, two monthly meetings, pledges events on Sept 29 and Oct 2, a rummage sale Oct 5, and plans for a November 6 ritual dinner.
