Two Injured In Truck Rampage
An Erie man Richard J. Kubiak 35 and his 5-year-old son Les were seriously injured in a multi vehicle crash at Route 6 and a rural road in Mill Village. Kubiak heads the social sciences division at Mercyhurst College. A second worker, David Higley 21, was treated and released from Union City Hospital. The dump truck driven by Ray D Showman Jr 18 struck the Kubiak car after running a red light. The vehicle rammed multiple cars and a house, severing a gas line but no fire developed. Damages estimated at 18000 dollars.

Washington AP reports that men with low selective service numbers who lost deferments, mainly college graduates and dropouts, are expected to be called first when inductions resume.
