Novena Mission Opens Sunday at St Thomas

The Little Flower of Tess will open a novena mission at St Thomas Church this Sunday with 7:30 pm services conducted by Jesuit Father Thomas Stokes from St Joseph's Monastery. Masses are 7 am and 8:25 am daily with mission instructions after the last Mass. Evening services include sermon rosary prayers and benediction ending Sunday evening October 1 with closing exercises and a pew blessing.

British Troops Sweep Deep Into Rich Po Valley

Eighth army forces penetrated the Po valley after seizing Rimini, pushing through strong German defenses. American units also seized a vital road junction in the Gothic line heartland, threatening a collapse of the German defenses as Allied armored and air power bombarded the region. Three Corry Residents Injured In Erie Car Crash

Three Corry residents were injured Friday at 4 30 pm when the car they rode in crashed into a curb at Wayne Park near 6th and East avenues. Prances Ross, 33, of West Main Street, is at Hamet hospital with a fractured shoulder along with her husband Donald, 45, who has a knee injury. Howard Crandall, 28, driver of the car, is being treated for injuries. A fourth person, Charles Tribe, was transported to Hast avenue but did not remain at the scene. An ambulance took the injured to the hospital.

Janice Graham, former maid at Everett Wilson dairy farm, is acquitted on all three murder charges tied to the shotgun slayings of Catherine Wilson and Robert McKay and the strangling of Helen Wilson. Plans Complete for Big Ajax Event

Deroralers at the Ajax Tron Works finish last minute arrangements for a major event tomorrow when the Maritime Commission will award the "M" pennant to the local industry. Decorators from Pittsburgh prepare the plant, caterers arrive for a luncheon and a 10 guest dinner at the Country Club, with open plant tours at 2 o'clock and ceremonies at 9:30 in the shop yard. War Prisoners Convoy Passes Through Cory J

A convoy of 21 Army trucks escorted by three Jeeps moved through Cory J on Route 6 carrying German prisoners of war to North East to replace those who went to Brice Lakeside Hotel ramp. Guards aboard each truck, traffic signals ignored, and the lead jeep sounded a siren as the column proceeded amid armed escorts. A similar AP dispatch from Baltimore notes plans to end a strike by about 200 prisoners at Erie fruit plants, with captives at North East, Pa. The Army said workers would be replaced to prevent work stoppage and ensure continued processing.

Corry youth captured, wounded, recaptured by Americans
