Mleczko Wins New Trial In Murder Case
MAYVILLE Albany office reports Mileczko, 24, Dunkirk WWI veteran, to face a new first degree murder trial for a case near Dunkirk. He was convicted in 1945 for fatal attack on Mrs. Warner at a Dunkirk rail tower in 1946. Court of Appeals cites errors in trial court charge and deathbed testimony as grounds for a new trial. 30 Families Seek Stay of Evictions in Castle Shannon
Thirty families facing eviction from ramshackle Castle Shannon homes asked Allegheny County Common Pleas to stay the evictions for 41% months. Attorney Edward S. Buas told Judge Henry X. O Brien the tenants face a housing emergency deserving court consideration, and the judge set a hearing for September 27. The Pittsburgh Terminal Realisation Corp, owner of the houses renting at 14.40 monthly, brought the eviction proceedings. The Castle Shannon council has condemned the houses as unsafe and unsanitary but has stayed formal issuance of the condemnation order.
