Robert H. Robinson aged 97 of Pleasantville died after his car struck a northbound freight train on the Hunter railroad crossing in Oil County. He was en route to Tionesta and dragged about 1,200 feet along the tracks before succumbing to a crushed chest and multiple injuries. The incident occurred at 10:28 p.m. as the Pennsylvania Railroad train crossed the Hunter crossing.
A general alarm fire destroyed much of the First Methodist Church in Lancaster starting in the basement. Fire Chief Harry Miller put damage at about 500000. Crews fought the blaze two hours before it was controlled at 7 30 a m with flames possibly smouldering overnight.

State Police report a 16 year old was arrested on a complaint by 84 year old Mrs. Mery B. Marcy that she was raped and robbed of 84 dollars near Portland. Private George A. Gollut said the arrest was made in Easton Pennsylvania on September 21.
