Canada Ready to Offer U S Trade Favors
Ottawa reports the Canadian government ready to offer the United States its intermediate tariff and possibly most favored nation status in exchange for better access to the U S market for natural products such as cattle lumber fish and dairy. The move forms the core of ongoing reciprocal trade talks with lingering U S objections. Canada favors higher access for its natural products while U S producers resist increased competition. The intermediate tariff is more favorable than the general rate though the gap has narrowed under the current government.
