Springfield Sept 18 John Lewis president of the United Mine Workers of America praised Herbert Hoover for addressing industrial and economic problems promising full and stable employment for workers. Lewis commented on Hoover's Newark speech delivered last night noting its emphasis on employment.
Senator Charles Curtis, Republican vice presidential nominee candidate, spent two hours in Chicago meeting Western campaign officials while en route from Evansville to Henry Mo. He had breakfast with editors and then planned discussions with Walter New Yon on October speaking engagements.

Los Angeles Cal Sept 18 Belief that Gordon Stewart Northcott’s chicken farm was used for a wholesale murder grew in police circles after a blood stained sack and bones were found on the farm in Riverside County. Officers pursued possible graves of victims as detectives dug the property and detained George C. Northcott Sr as a material witness while seeking Northcott and his mother.
Sixty seven people died in automobile accidents in Pennsylvania in August. During the same period twenty one thousand five hundred forty one persons were injured. Twenty five children aged two to eleven were included in the toll. only one fatal grade crossing accident was reported.
New monuments are on display at the Corry Granite and Marble Works on First Avenue.
