Payton, a program by Mr and Mrs Thewret at Wayne Valley United Methodist Church, Amici Sunday School Class gathering, Columbus PTA first meeting with panel on Discipline, and ongoing prenatal classes.
Ber' Miss Marie Gail Davis and James Clifford Upton united in marriage at the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Youngsville Pennsylvania. Rev Don McEntire officiated the double ring ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Dilworth G Davis Jr. and wife. The groom is son of Lucille Upton and J Seymour Upton. Wedding party included matron of honor Martha Ricketts twin sister and bridesmaids in royal blue gowns. Following the ceremony a reception for 300 guests was held at the Brokenstraw Fish and Game Club. The couple will live in Garland after a wedding trip to Washington DC Philadelphia Arlington and Gettysburg. The bride is a 1973 graduate of Corry Area High School and the groom a 1971 graduate from Youngsville Area High School. He served two years in the US Marines and is employed at Torpedo Wire and Strip Co. in Torpedo Pa.
The St Thomas Women's Organization held a tureen dinner to open the new school year with eighty guests including the School Advisory Council. Italian themed hall decor, candles, and a menu of Italian foods accompanied brief talks by Rev Cyril Cooper and Rev John Lucas. Drawings were won by Rita Downey and Roberta Burkhart. Harvest Dinner set for Sunday October 10 from noon to 5 pm. Plans include chair Reva Lowry and ticket lead Adeline Rowland with a dessert committee Pat Gehriein and Jean Saborsky. Cleanup and kitchen teams named among many volunteers.
