Armed deputy sheriffs and city police patrolled Judge Waite’s court Thursday after reports that Wilbur Umnitz and gang leader planned to attack District Attorney Mortimer B. Graham and escape. Umnitz with George Zimmer are on trial on robbbery charges. they were restrained with manacles and guarded closely during testimony. Three Hurt In Auto Accident Near Torpedo
Warren, Sept. 16 Three persons were injured in an automobile crash near Torpedo. William Gayetty of Oil City is at Warren General Hospital with a right leg injury and cuts. James C. Amsdell was treated and discharged for bruises and shock. Lyman A. Broughton suffers chest injuries at home after his car parked off the highway was hit by Amsdell’s vehicle. Patrolman Hang said Broughton, sleepy, pulled off to nap. further investigation pending.

Panama Man Stung As Hive Is Upset
W K Eddy was badly stung Wednesday in his orchard two miles north of Panama while mowing a field of puck Wheat. A swarm of bees in the field caused the team to bolt, knock off a hive cover, and break the mowing machine and harness as they fled toward Ernest Wiltsie’s manflow. Eddy was stung on the face, neck, and hands and a bee crawled into an air end, holding him in pain until the next morning.
