Erie to Retain Tax Rate Despite Wage Increases
Erie officials announce taxes will not rise next year despite possible wage hikes for city employees. Finance Director Joseph Martin says budget projections are likely to be exceeded as total receipts reach about 1.95 million by September 1 and only 50,958 remains to meet the annual estimate, with delinquent collections unusually high. He urges department heads to maintain strict economy for the rest of the year.
