Fliers Reported Safe in Alaska After Missing Week

United Press reports Don Moyle and Cecil Allen, missing since September 9 after taking off from Bushiburo Beach Japan, landed on an uninhabited island in the Bering Sea. A radio message intercepted in Seattle stated they would be in Seattle by September 22. Coast Guard to investigate.

British ships rush aid to hurricane wrecked Belize

Belize, British Honduras Sept 15 British warships prepared to take over supervision of Belize from US Marines after the hurricane struck. One British ship in port two expected. Death toll above 2000 with 500 injured. Water purification chemicals urgently needed to prevent cholera. Main city littered with wreckage bodies and mud. Exodus continued slowly as relief efforts mounted.

Woman survives crash at White and Center Streets collision

At the White and Center Streets intersection last evening two cars collided when a West Washington street driver turning onto White was sideswiped by a fast Pontiac from Gary. Mrs. Klinger was thrown from her car but escaped serious injury. her husband Glenn Klinger and the Pontiac driver Fy Cooper, both occupants, sustained only bruises and shock.

European fliers lose sight of land on trans Atlantic flight

Red Cross Holds Conference in Northwest Pennsylvania

The Red Cross regional conference of the northwest district of Pennsylvania met at Hotel Cony with delegates from surrounding towns and cities. The program included talks by two national Red Cross leaders, with a luncheon at noon and continued sessions this afternoon. Four Die As Air Mail Plane Crashes In San Francisco Bay

Four persons perish when a United Air Lines airmail plane en route to Seattle plunges into San Francisco Bay while circling for an emergency landing. Pilot Ray Boudreaux and three passengers, Kirke Herre, F L Sheahan, and W H Swellwell, are confirmed dead as authorities search the waters near Alameda Airport. The craft reportedly struggled after takeoff before crashing short of the water’s edge.

Special to the Journal Eric reports September results from the Nayen county contests. Republican pickings include Judge of Orphans Court Orin Waite and Clark of Courts Annette Yount, with other county-wide offices named. Mansfield leads in Republican Allegheny county race

State Senator William J D Mansfield led the Republican slate for Allegheny County commissioners based on unofficial returns from 484 of 932 districts. James J Coyne trailed by about 4 000, with independent Charles C McGovern and incumbent Joseph G Armstrong also ahead in partial counts. City nominations sat unsettled as additional returns arrived.

Three Die As Erie Engine Boiler Explodes at Graham Crossing

Three men were killed and three injured when the boiler of an Erie Railroad locomotive exploded at Graham Crossing near Port Jervis. The dead were engineer W. H. Mallett of Matamoras Pa, brakeman B. Brewster of Port Jervis, and brakeman George Hamilton of Port Jervis. The injured were Edward D. Crotty fireman and I. Z. Dodge flagman of Port Jervis plus Henry Smith conductor, all listed as Port Jervis residents and taken to Port Jervis Hospital.
